Dealing with change and, more importantly, the impact of change is a high priority for all organisations.

ALC's Foundation/Practitioner course on Change Management is based on the syllabus defined by APMG in partnership with the Change Management Institute (CMI), an independent, global professional association of change managers. Together they have developed a professional ‘Body of Knowledge’ for the discipline of change management. This body of knowledge now provides an independent benchmark for the professional knowledge expected of an effective change manager.

ALC's course is fully aligned with this change management Body of Knowledge. It comprehensively covers both the theory and the practice of change management including:

  • change and the individual
  • change and the organisation
  • communication and stakeholder engagement
  • change practice

The course is structured in two modules: a stand-alone Foundation Level (3 days) and a follow-on Practitioner Level (2 days). These can be taken individually or combined. Choose the option that best meets your needs.

Practitioner level is for anyone with Foundation level knowledge who wants to gain practicing level capability and attain the full certification. It is ideal for those who lead, manage or contribute to the facilitation of change within an organisation. On completion, you will be ready to sit the APMG Change Management Practitioner exam

Course fees

Foundation Level Certification

The purpose of the Foundation certification is to measure whether you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Change Management Text and Handbook to act as an informed member of a change management team during a period of change within part or all of your organization. The Foundation certification is also a pre-requisite for the Practitioner certification.

  • Four sections, total of 60 questions
  • 30 marks required to pass (out of 60 available) - 50%
  • 60 minutes duration
  • Closed-book

Practitioner Level Certification

The purpose of the Practitioner certification is to confirm whether you have achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor Change Management guidance in a given organizational change situation. A successful Practitioner should, with suitable direction be able to start applying the Change Management approaches and techniques to a real change initiative but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Your individual Change Management expertise, complexity of the change initiative and the support provided for the use of Change Management approaches in your work environment will all be factors that impact what the Practitioner can achieve.
